New amenities have been installed at Mirani Swim Centre.

Pioneer and Mirani swim centres and the Bluewater Lagoon have been upgraded just in time for summer. The three aquatic facilities were allocated a combined $350,000 for repairs as part of the State Government’s Works for Queensland program.

Corporate Services Committee chair Cr Ayril Paton said the work had improved the appearance and functionality of the swim centres. “During the winter shutdown, the pool at Mirani Swim Centre was drained and rehabilitation work was carried out to repair broken tiles and re-grout the pool,” he said. “Other works undertaken as part of the funding included the refurbishment of the amenities blocks and painting at both Pioneer and Mirani swim centres. “Painting works were also carried out at the Bluewater Lagoon during the winter shutdown. “The upgrades will ensure the facilities continue to meet the community’s expectations both now and into the future.”

Pioneer Swim Centre is operated by LTS Leisure and is open Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 6am to 7pm, Thursday from 6am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm.

Mirani Swim Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 6am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

Bluewater Lagoon is open every day except Christmas from 9am to 5.45pm.

These projects supported 17 jobs and are part of the $200 million State Government-funded Works for Queensland program.
