RACQ CQ RESCUE

A Second shark attack has occurred in the Whitsundays. The RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter is en route to Cid Harbour. Queensland Ambulance Services confirmed a person had been bitten on the leg by a shark at 1.45pm at Cid Harbour, at Whitsunday Island. 

Firefighters will return to a blaze at Mount Britton. The fire was reportedly moving from Mount Britton towards Moonlight Dam last night with residents asked to be on alert. Smoke will continue to affect the surrounding area as crews work to contain the blaze

We’re just one day away from Mackay’s biggest music event. Sugar City Sounds will be kicking off tomorrow. So far more than 6 thousand people will be jamming out to big name stars – Birds of Tokyo, The Living End, and Pete Murray. MECC and Events Manager Andrew Bobeldyk says it's great to have such a high list of musicians coming to the region.

LOCAL SPORT

A set of massive AFL carnivals brings Mackay’s youth south to Maroochydore. They'll compete in the 2018 AFL Queensland Under 14 Boys and Girls Academy and Bond University Under 17 Youth Girls Championships. Over 500 players and umpires will take to the fields in a display of future talent with these players progressing through the Queensland pathway towards their future careers

Softball players will converge on Mackay this weekend for the 2018 Under 17s Boys State Championships. Hosted by Mackay Softball Association in Beaconsfield, the event will see 10 teams compete over three days. The side from Redlands is looking to defend their title from last year
