 Queensland Police data show that from January 2017 to date, 6229 crimes have been committed in the Mackay region .

Two men are in Police custody after crashing a white Camry at Mackay Harbour yesterday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle initially fled the scene- found in nearby Spiller Avenue. Police believe the car may have been stolen

Angered Anti-Adani protesters are hoping a rally in Mackay on Saturday will sway politicians away from being in favour of the coal mine. They're growing concerned for what the mine could do to the environment, global warming and local water. The rally spurred on after reports Adani released coal polluted water into the Caley Valley Wetlands during cyclone Debbie. Stop Adani protester Christine Carlisle says effects on the environment from coal mining are alarming.

 

 

A community information session will be held today about weather and climate changes in our region. MP Julieanne Gilbert says that everyone is welcome to attend the session.

 

Crime prevention Mackay will be at the Mount Pleasant shopping centre today for Neighbourhood watch week. You can visit their stall from 9 to 11 to find out about home security.

LOCAL SPORT

 

The North Queensland sports foundation is hosting the Sports star awards in Bowen next Saturday- with the support of the Whitsunday regional council.

 

The Mackay indoor sports area are starting up a junior super netball program. It will run for 8 weeks from next Tuesday.
