Bumping Tactic Used In Springvale Carjacking

AXE-wielding thugs have deliberately rammed a Corolla during a carjacking in Springvale on Monday night.

They used a tactic known as 'bumping' to get the driver to pull over near the intersection of Young Street and Springvale Road at about 9:40 pm.

One man threatened the driver with an axe and demanded the keys. The other man then grabbed the keys and drove off in the Corolla.
The first man followed in the Commodore, leaving the victims stranded.The black Holden Commodore VF is believed to be stolen.

The offenders, were described as caucasian men. They were wearing hooded jumpers at the time of the attack and were last seen driving the separate cars down Peace Street in Springvale.

Police are urging the public to be extra cautious about ambush situations on the roads.
