Police had to make a dramatic arrest in the Melbourne CBD today after a man allegedly made racist threats and claimed to have a gun.
Cops were called after commuters heard the man screaming and abuse and claiming that he wanted to “shoot everyone”.
The police had to stop close the intersection of Collins and Elizabeth streets and stop the 109 tram at about 12.45pm.
They arrested the man with their guns drawn, and a subsequent search did not find a weapon.
The man in his 30s is expected to undergo a mental health check.
