Former Collingwood and Fremantle forward Jack Anthony has been booted from a country footy club before he played a game, according to Damian Barrett.
Anthony was lined up to play for Stawell in the Wimmera Football League, but was sacked before the season even started.
Damo discussed it on the Friday Huddle tonight.
“Last week when the Stawell Gift was on he (Anthony) was in a local establishment,” Damo said.
“Something happened to the point that Stawell footy club has decided to end the connection between itself and John Anthony.”
The owner of the Gift Hotel in Stawell, Peta Duns, told News Corp that Anthony had been working for her on a “casual basis” and that there had been an “employer-employee incident”.
“The footy club took the appropriate action that they felt necessary,” Duns said.
“There was an employer-employee incident, which will remain private.
“It has been dealt with and we’re moving on.”
The pub is a sponsor of Stawell Football Club.
