Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy has warned parents about a controversial film screened at Village Cinemas at Crown in Melbourne last night.
Vaxxed was screened to a packed cinema by the Australian Vaccination-sceptics Network last night.
The film makes false claims about the safety of vaccinations and experts say the message is "dangerous".
"I just urge people to get their information from their doctor not from some of the quacks on the internet or from people who are putting out films that are not based on any scientific truth," the Health Minister said.
"Go and see Wonder Woman or something far more entertaining. This is a film that's based on lies. I can't put it any clearer than that.”
“If we don’t get as many people as possible vaccinating to get herd immunity, that means we can’t look after those people that are having things like getting chemotherapy who have low immunity,” she said. “Or those who have allergies to certain vaccinations.”
Crown claims it wasn’t made aware of the screening – with details only given to supporters two hours before it started.
The Health minister encouraged everyone who had concerns to speak to their doctor.
