Graffiti Costing Some Melbourne Taxpayers $1000 A Day

Shocking clean-up costs revealed.

Graffiti Costing Some Melbourne Taxpayers $1000 A Day (Victorian Government)

$1000 a day is the taxpayer bill to clean up after vandals in Melbourne's east.

In the last five years Knox Council has poured $2 million to scrub the streets of graffiti, including free kits for businesses and contractors to wash and paint walls.

According to the latest figures revealed by The Leader, more than 3000 graffiti incidents were reported in that time.

It's prompted police to urge concerned residents to utilise new anti-tag app 'Vandaltrak', which records the location and sends the image to both council and police.
