Almost six months after their numbers came up in a $55 million lottery, the mystery winner has stepped forward with their ticket, bought in Melbourne.
Just days before the prize was due to be transferred to Victoria's State Revenue Office in accordance with unclaimed monies, the lucky winner came forward on Wednesday.
"Exactly who the winner is, where they've been and what they plan to do with their multi-million-dollar payday will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private," a statement from Powerball said.
The ticket was bought at Brunswick's Scole Lotto and News store in Barkly Square way back in January 11.
The deadline for claiming the money before transferring to Victoria's State Revenue Office was July 11.
It had previously been the largest unclaimed prize in Australia.
