Hard to get out of bed, right?

Melbourne's Shivered Through The Coldest Night This Year

Nope you’re not dreaming – Victoria has shivered through the coldest morning of the year as the temperature plunged below zero in some parts of the state.

While most of the city woke up to a chilly 3 degrees, Ballarat woke to -2 degrees, Horsham -1 and the Alpine regions had lows of -4 degrees.

Melbourne’s outer suburbs also hit some pretty impressive lows at Laverton at 1.3 degrees,  Avalon with 1.9 degrees and Coldstream at 1.8 degrees. Viewbank saw lows of 0.9 degrees and Mildura hit -0.7 degrees.

The chilly temps make Melbourne the coldest major city in the world this morning. While at 8.30 in Melbourne it was 4 degrees, it was 9 degrees in Reykjavik Iceland, 11 degrees in La Paz Peru and 13 degrees in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s Dean Narramore said it’s the coldest morning since July last year.

He said we can expect another cold morning tomorrow but it’ll be a degree or two warmer.
