Police are asking the public for help identifying a man who left a suspicious device at North Melbourne Railway Station on Thursday morning.
Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify a man after a suspicious device was located at North Melbourne Railway Station this morning.
Police evacuated the station and all trains approaching were stopped while they conducted safety checks.
Now police are looking for a man who got off a Craigieburn line train at North Melbourne Railway Station at around 6am.
They believe he left a package on the platform before boarding a Watergardens line train.
The device was left on platform one near the staircase and had the appearance of an explosive device.
Bomb Response Unit officers attended the scene and deemed the device safe.
He is described as approximately 30-years-old with short dark hair, facial hair and an olive complexion.
He was wearing a dark coloured broad brim hat, black coat, tan pants and black boots.
The man was on a green motorised scooter and was carrying a red and black backpack and green helmet.
