Police are investigating a “brazen” incident allegedly involving a man who dressed as a wedding guest to steal almost $10,000 from a Melbourne couple.
Senior Constable Bradley John told Nine News the man arrived to the Jack Rabbit Vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula last Saturday, and even mingled with guests before taking the money.
“It was like a scene out of Wedding Crashers “ Senior Constable John said.
“It was pretty brazen… I think alcohol gave him the confidence to do it,”
Dressed in suit pants and a white shirt, CCTV shows the offender reportedly used tools to pry the padlock to the couple’s wishing well, helping himself to cash donations and fleeing soon after.
Police say investigations are ongoing while the newlyweds spend their honeymoon in Fiji.
