The Bureau of Meteorology have issued a thunderstorm warning for the band of weather currently passing over Melbourne.
The city has begun to cop the first of the front that will bring heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms.
The front is moving in from the east and has begun to pass over Melbourne.
A group of severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Caulfield, St Kilda, Heidelberg, Healesville and Hurstbridge, according to the Bureau.
It's forecast to affect Greensborough, Melbourne City and Preston by 4:35 pm and Coburg, Doncaster and Footscray by 5:05 pm.
More generally, locations affected will include Kerang, Bendigo, Echuca, Shepparton, Melbourne and Frankston.
