Victoria is expected to experience severe winds across the state today, BOM warns.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds with gusts up to 100 km/h expected for Thursday morning and afternoon.

Senior Meteorologist Keris Arndt, Bureau of Meteorology Victoria, said strong winds

recorded across Victoria this morning included:

 105 km/h Mt William

 98 km/h Melbourne Airport

 96 km/h Aireys Inlet

 94 km/h Kilmore Gap

The State Emergency Service had already experienced more than 60 call outs across the state by 11am this morning – mostly for trees down. A spokesperson said they expected the calls to ramp up in the next 24 hours.

Arndt said there was potential for more damaging winds tomorrow.
