Falling asleep in an allegedly stolen car, loaded with weapons and counterfeit cash, probably isn't the best way to stay off the police radar. But for one Melbourne man, that's exactly what has happened.
Police carrying out a routine patrol in North Williamstown on Wednesday night came across an allegedly stolen vehicle in Macauley Street.
Officers woke up a man asleep in the drivers seat, then searched the car. They allegedly located a tomahawk, a flick knife, counterfeit money and other potentially dangerous tools.
A 23-year-old Burwood man was arrested at the scene, and charged with 19 offences including theft of motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and weapons offences.
