Two arrests in Thomastown this afternoon have been confirmed as being related to a shooting in the same suburb this morning.

A man presented at a hospital in Melbourne's north having driven himself to the emergency ward after being shot.

A 35-year-old Thomastown man turned up to a hospital in Epping at about 3:15am with gunshot wounds, and police attended an address in Thomastown to make enquiries.

A short siege ensued, with police negotiating with men at an address in Alexander Avenue.

The area was cordoned off while police worked.

Two men were arrested at around 2pm and are assisting police with their enquiries.
