1 Killed, Another Critically Injured In Separate Local Crashes
Occurring in Crowdy Head, Yippon Creek
A teenage girl has died following a crash on the state’s north coast on Friday.
Just after 4pm, emergency services were called to Beechwood Road at Yippon Creek, about 20kms west of Port Macquarie, following reports of a crash.
A Holden Barina travelling north and a Hino truck travelling south collided head on.
The Holden driver, a 17-year-old girl, was treated by paramedics and taken to Port Macquarie Hospital, where she died.
The truck driver, a 34-year-old man, was injured and taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Meantime a teenager remains in a critical condition in hospital after a serious crash near Taree the following day.
About 3.20pm on Saturday, a Nissan Pulsar was travelling south on Crowdy Head Road, Crowdy Head, when it left the road and collided with a tree.
The driver, a 17-year-old male, suffered concussion. He was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for a mandatory blood and urine sample.
A 17-year-old male passenger suffered life-threatening head injuries.
He was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains on life support in a critical condition
Officers from the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the crash.
