ALP to decide whether to pursue Gillespie in court
Property portfolio raises eyebrows
UPDATED 10:27am
Lyne MP David Gillespie's property portfolio is back in the spotlight today.
The Australian Labor Party's executive has decided to launch a High Court Challenge on his ability to be in parliament.
Dr Gillespie's company leases a Port Macquarie building to an Australia Post franchisee.
Under Section 44 of the constitution, anyone with a "direct or indirect pecuniary interest" in an agreement with the commonwealth is disqualified to sit as an MP.
It's understood Dr Gillespie has previously obtained legal advice which stipulates there's no issue with the arrangement.
Dr Gillespie has been approached for comment.
