Count Continues for Hastings Mayoral Hopefuls
Preferences Distributed Wednesday
Counting continues as the New South Wales Electoral Commission works to figure out Port Macquarie-Hastings’ new mayor.
The distribution of preferences will begin Wednesday – but at the time of writing, current results show Peta Pinson's sitting on over 34.5% of the first preference vote.
The North Haven businesswoman taking to Facebook to say "whatever the final outcome, [her campaign's] changed the status quo permanently".
Councillor Rob Turner's next in line on 28.1%.
In a statement to the media today, Cr Turner said with himself and decision-making peers Cr Sharon Griffiths and Acting Mayor Lisa Intemann receiving about 55% of the vote, residents have confidence in how the local government is being managed.
