Investigations are continuing after a woman drowned in Laurieton on Wednesday.

Just before 5pm, emergency services were called to Mill Street, after a woman was pulled from the water. 
Police and ambulance paramedics attended, however; the woman could not be revived and died at the scene.
Initial inquiries indicate the 48-year-old woman jumped in the Camden Haven River after an argument with a man.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station. He was later released pending further inquiries. 

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
