Good news for all of our surf lifesaving clubs, picking up 5 thousand dollars apiece from the Federal Government.

It comes in a bid to further prevent drownings and near death experiences.

Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker says with 10 lifesaving clubs in the electorate, the funding comes as a welcome boost.

"As many of us head to the beach at this time of year, water safety is of paramount importance," he says.

“Some clubs may use it to invest in new technology such as drones to enable remote monitoring of unpatrolled beaches.”

The money will for a large part go to the beach equipment program, to enable the purchase of new rescue equipment and medical supplies.
