A Kundabung man has been charged with several vehicle re-birthing offences after several parts were seized from a business at Kempsey late last year.

On November 21st, Kempsey detectives and investigators from the State Crime Command’s Property Squad conducted a business inspection on a motor vehicle repairer in Crescent Head Road.

Three motor vehicle engines and a motor vehicle were located that police will allege had their identifiers removed or altered.

Subsequently forensic analysis of the items revealed that all had been previously reported stolen.

About 5pm on Thursday 12 January 2017, a 52-year-old man was arrested at Kempsey Police Station.

He was later charged with facilitating organised car re-birthing activities, possession of motor vehicle or vessel where unique identifier has been interfered with and receiving motor vehicle and larceny by bailee.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court on Monday 20 February 2017.
