A man has died following a stabbing in Port Macquarie.

About 12.30pm on Friday 4 May, police were called to the vicinity of Rushcutter Way and Beacon Court, Port Macquarie, where they located a 30-year old man in a serious condition with stab wounds.

He was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for treatment where he passed away about 5.40pm.

Crime scenes were established at addresses Beacon Court and Rushcutter Way, Port Macquarie.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man shown in a photograph they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

Police want to speak with 32-year-old Ben Black who was last seen about 12.40pm on Friday, in Rushcutter Way, Port Macquarie.

Mr Black is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes.

He is likely to be unshaven and wearing dark clothing.

Police are urging the public to call them immediately on Triple Zero if they see Ben Black, and are warned not to approach him.

Anyone with other information relevant to the investigation should call Port Macquarie Police immediately.
