A man charged with murder after a stabbing at Port Macquarie on Friday, has faced Port Macquarie court via audio link from Kempsey.

It's in relation to a stabbing happening on Friday

About 12.30pm, police were called to the vicinity of Rushcutter Way and Beacon Court, Port Macquarie, where they located a 30-year old man in a serious condition with stab wounds to the chest.

He was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for treatment where he passed away about 5.40pm the same day. 

Police from Mid North Coast Police District commenced inquiries into the incident.

About 12.30pm on Monday, a 32-year-old man presented at Port Macquarie Police Station and was arrested.

It's thought the victim and the attacker, Ben Black, were known to each other.

At court via the link today, Black did not apply for bail, and failed to enter a plea.

He'll remain behind bars until July 19, when he's next expected to appear before Port Macquarie Court.
