The Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams has announced the Mid North Coast is in the midst of a jobs boom, according to fresh jobs data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Mrs Williams said the region had added 31,200 jobs since the Liberal-Nationals Coalition took office in 2011.

“These latest job figures show the enormous economic progress that has been made in our region.

“The addition of more than 31,000 jobs in our backyard, is in stark contrast to the loss of 4,100 jobs that were destroyed on the Mid North Coast during Labor’s last decade in power."

“Local bakery Urban Grain is a perfect example of a business that is proving to be a success story. Since they opened in December 2016, Katherine and Tim have employed 14 local people which is an outstanding result,” Mrs Williams said.

The ABS data also showed the unemployment rate on the Mid North Coast has fallen to just 5.1%, well below the average rate of 5.9% in all other states and territories.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said new jobs created in regional NSW have outpaced employment growth in all other Australian regional areas combined.

“As part of my role as Minister for Regional NSW, I want people to look to regional and remote areas and think ‘I could have a great life there’, and we know getting a great job is central to that,” Mr Barilaro said.
