New crime statistics are out and they're showing for the most part, crime rates have remained stable across the state.

The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research report shows 16 of the 17 major crime categories either fell, or remained stable.

But locally we experienced much more pronounced figures. For the Port Macquarie-Hastings local government area, in break and enter non-dwelling, a 76 percent increase over 2 years.

Meantime we saw a drop of 20 percent in domestic violence-related assault, and a 19 percent decrease for indecent assault, act of indecency and other sexual offences.

Kempsey Shire Council has over the same time seen a 48 percent increase in steal from retail store.

Nambucca Council saw a 56 percent increase in break and enter non dwelling, but a drop of 42 percent in domestic violence related assault.
