Locals and visitors can soon look forward to a new public amenities block in the Crescent Head reserve with work recently getting underway.

The facility will be situated in the southern part of the reserve, adjacent to the caravan park, to allow safe and easy access from the carpark and the Killick Creek Footbridge. It will feature multiple male and female toilet cubicles, a wheelchair accessible cubicle and two individual showers located off a central breezeway.

Council’s Director of Infrastructure Services, Robert Scott, said a contribution of $166,000 from the NSW State Government through the Public Reserve Management Fund Program had made the project possible.
“The community has really needed this facility and Council is thrilled that it is now becoming a reality,” Mr Scott said.

“Crescent Head is becoming increasingly popular with visitors every year so it is important that amenities can meet these demands. The new facility complements the new surf club and footbridge and will make a big difference for the town.”

Mr Scott said the new building was moved to the reserve to not only make access safer from the carpark, but to meet the fire safety regulations by being away from the surf club.

The old amenities block will remain in use during construction and will be demolished once the new building is complete. Work is expected to be finished by the end of June, weather permitting.
