Rare fish caught by keen fishos

A keen fisherman and his son flung out a line the other day during a quick visit to Port Macquarie.  They were fishing close to the jetty near Settlement Point and they landed a very rare fish in the Hastings waters.

The father and son caught a 47-centimetre Queensland groper. The fish gave a good fight and the fisherman finally reeled it in, letting his young son net the groper. When they realised how rare this fish was they decided to do some research on the breed of fish and discovered that these fish can grow up to two to three metres.

So does this possibly could mean there is an enormous one lurking in Port Macquarie somewhere.

The fish was released.
