Re-appeal following armed robbery

Police have released a CCTV image of a vehicle of interest following investigations into an armed robbery at South Kempsey in January.

About 2.10am on Monday 9 January 2017, two men, one armed with a knife, entered a fast-food restaurant at the South Kempsey Service Centre and walked behind the counter.

One man grabbed one of the four staff members by the arm, and then by the neck, demanding cash.

The two offenders then took money and fled from the premises in a white mid 1990s white Toyota Landcruiser 4WD (above) which drove from the area and was found burnt out in bushland.

Strike Force Gooriwa was established by detectives from Mid North Coast Local Area Command to investigate.

The first male was described as about 6 foot tall (183cm), with a stocky build and had distinct tattoo or scar underneath his right eye. He was wearing a black hooded jumper with a balaclava at the time.

The second male, armed with the knife is described as having skinny build, and was wearing a hooded jumper and balaclava.

Both men were wearing gloves during the robbery.

Investigators have released an image of the vehicle used in the hope it will provide more information about events both leading up to and after the robbery.

If anyone has information which could assist police they are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
