Kempsey Shire Mayor Liz Campbell has been named chair of a local planning committee to identify what the federal government should invest in on the Mid North Coast.

Minister for Regional Development and Deputy Leader of the Nationals Fiona Nash today announced the committee for the NSW North Coast Jobs and Investment Package.

The package is a commitment of $25 million to the region between the Great Lakes and the Clarence Valley, promised before last year's federal election.

Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie said the Local Planning Committee will develop a Local Investment Plan that will list the forward-looking growth sectors which it thinks will create sustainable jobs for the future of the region.

“Once the Local Investment Plan is done, the applications from the local area can roll in,” Dr Gillespie said.

Funding will be available across three streams: Local Infrastructure Projects, Business Innovation Grants and Skills and Training.
