2 people have been charged after an alleged assault in Port Macquarie.

Occurring around 11.30pm on Tuesday, a man and a woman became involved in an altercation with a console operator at a Lord Street service station.

The man allegedly threw a number of items at the operator, causing minor injuries, also allegedly copping a barrage of abuse from the man and woman.

2 Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers then attempted to arrest the pair, but not before a senior constable was was allegedly punched in the face by the 26 year old man.

Further officers were called as theĀ alleged offenders continued to resist arrest, before eventually being brought to Port Macquarie Police station and charged.
