A Hoax Page Is Trying To Make People Think That The Simpsons Is Coming To The ABC

A hoax Facebook page is trying to trick Aussies into thinking that The Simpsons will be airing on the ABC.

Channel 10 sensationally lost the rights to the legendary cartoon overnight, and someone has set up a fake ABC TV page called ABC Television with an image claiming that The Simpsons will be airing there going forward.

The fake page was set up at around 4:30pm AEDT, and uses a lot of genuine ABC imagery including the logo and either the actual proprietary ABC font or a very good approximation of it.

The page is populated with other Simpsons references, with a TV program mentioned frequently in the show — The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo — being touted as the replacement for recently-axed Lateline.

As with any hoax propagated via Facebook though, the proof is in the amount of likes the page has — the newly created ABC Television page has 15 likes at the time of publication:
