Police in Queensland are hunting for two men this morning, after a man and his son were shot during a violent home invasion south of Brisbane.

Investigators say the pair stormed into the home on Ammons Street at Browns Plains just on 8 o'clock last night, armed with a machete and a gun.

The gun was discharged during an altercation.

A 10 year old boy was struck in the shoulder by a bullet, while his 31 year old father copped a bullet graze to his stomach. The injuries are considered non life threatening.

The boy has been taken to Brisbane's Lady Cilento Hospital, while the father is at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A police dog was also injured while tracking the offenders when a dog at the Ammons Street residence bit its leg. The police dog has been taken to a vet for treatment of a torn leg muscle.

Anyone who may have seen or who has dashcam footage of two men entering a vehicle in the westbound lanes of Browns Plains Road in the vicinity of Waller Road at around 8pm Tuesday, are being encouraged to contact police.
