Nine Network's A Current Affair program says it will not shirk from covering a story involving their reporter who faces child pornography charges.

Ben McCormack was arrested on Thursday morning and later charged with sending child pornography material after police raided the Nine Network's Sydney offices.

McCormack spoke about children in a sexually explicit way in conversations with another man and discussed child pornography, police allege.

In an opening statement to their Thursday night program, host Leila McKinnon said A Current Affair would cover the story "without fear or favour".

Police also searched McCormack's Alexandria apartment on Thursday morning

McCormack, 42, who was suspended by the Nine Network on Thursday, will appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on May 1.
