Big W has denied suggestions they intentionally avoided putting the word “Christmas” on their festive trees this year.

Angry customers threatened to boycott the store after their festive trees were put on sale without the word "Christmas" on the packaging.

Big W’s traditional tree is now called a “Grand Pine Tree”, the snow-coloured version a “White Forest Tree”, with other styles including the “Black Forest Tree”, “Mayfair Tree” and “Atlanta Tree”.

But spokesperson, Michelle Carfrae, has revealed the omission wasn’t intentional –instead the decorations are named after the ranges – and the trees are definitely still Christmas trees.

Christmas is a great time of year for family and friends and we love celebrating this important event with our teams and customers.

We know that many of our customers get really excited about Christmas and a number of customers like to coordinate their home Christmas decorations.

In order to assist our customers coordinate their Christmas trees and decorations we label packaging with key Christmas themes.”

So basically, if you buy an Atlanta Tree – you will also be able to grab an Atlanta range of decorations to coordinate. Simples.
