Netflix is reportedly set to dump its longest-running original drama, House of Cards, after the sixth season is released next year.

The news comes less than 24 hours after Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp, also well known for playing Mark in the Broadway film Rent, came forward with allegations against the show's star Kevin Spacey, claiming he made a sexual advance towards him when he was just 14-years-old.

Spacey spoke out about the allegation on Monday, claiming not to remember the particular incident before formally coming out as gay.

The streaming service has released this statement to US media:

"Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey."

"In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time."
