Brisbane police have confirmed the death toll from last weekend's London terror attack has risen to eight.

Marine police located the body of Frenchman Xavier Thomas, 45, in the River Thames. It is believed he fell into the river as terrorist ploughed a white van into pedestrians along London Bridge.

Thomas was walking with his girlfriend over the bridge at the time of the attack on Saturday night, his girlfriend was struck by the van and still in a serious condition in hospital.

While the family of Brisbane woman Sara Zelenak, who was confirmed as one of the eight victims yesterday, have spoken of their heartbreak. 

In a statement, they said they are "deeply saddened at the tragic loss of our beautiful daughter .. Sara's family and friends are devastated". 



Zelenak is one of two Australians confirmed dead in the attack, the other was South Australian nurse Kirsty Boden who was killed after running into danger to assist other victims.

Two other Australians were stabbed in the attack but survived, Brisbane woman Candice Hedge and Darwin man Andrew Morrison.
