It might be a weekend for Netflix and chill as events across Melbourne have been cancelled. 

About 100mm of rain has been forecast for Melbourne between Friday and Sunday, while parts of Victoria are tipped to receive between 200mm and 300mm over the same period.

Inaugural Melbourne event Walking Stars has been cancelled ahead of tomorrow night, Saturday 2 December 2017, due to extreme weather set to hit the city.

More than 1,000 walkers were set to take part in the first night-time, walking half marathon to light up Melbourne and raise vital funds for Cancer Council Victoria.

Urban Polo has also advised that the Land Rover Polo in the City, due to be held on Saturday will not go ahead. All perishable food will be donated to charity and ticket holders will be issues a full refund. 

IMG have cancelled the remaining Taste Of Melbourne sessions from Friday 1-Sunday 3 due to safety of guests, exhibitors and staff. 

Many Christmas celebrations across the city have also been postponed. This includes the Twilight Christmas Festival at Rippon Lea Estate while Clyde Carols By Candlelight will now be held on December 8. 

Elwood Primary School has  cancelled its annual house swimming carnival.

Fair@Square has also been called off due to flooding worries. 

Surf Life Saving Victoria has issued a blanket ban on all water based lifesaving activities this weekend.

Royal Yacht Club’s Discover Sailing has also been cancelled due to weather.
