While some Australian cities have struggled through record-breaking heat in the first week of 2018 – longer term things will be wetter and cooler.

The latest Bureau of Meteorology climate outlook report, shows the first three months of 2018 are likely to have more rain than usual for most of the county 

The forecasts predicts it will be wetter than average from January to March for most of WA, southwest SA, northern Tasmania, the eastern half of Victoria, NSW and southern Queensland.

It’s also expected to be cooler than usual with daytime and nighttime temperatures in the majority of eastern and western Australia – apart from Tasmania and southern Victoria who are predicted to see warmer weather than average.

The unusual weather pattern is pinned on La Nina weather conditions.
