Reports have emerged that fans of the late cult killer Charles Manson have started a crowdfunding page to raise money for his funeral.

Manson died on November 19, aged 83.

He was serving nine life sentences for mass murder, despite the fact that he was the mastermind behind the killings and never actually killed anyone himself.

According to newshub.co.nz, supporters of the notorious criminal have set up a page to collect donations to put towards Manson's funeral to ensure he is "laid to rest with the honour, respect & dignity he deserves".

It is believed that the page was started by someone claiming to be friends with Manson's grandson, Jason.

"It is with a heavy heart I must announce, not only have we lost a dear friend & loved one. Charles age 83, but two days prior to Charles' passing away, his grandson Jason Lee Freeman lost his job," the page reads.

"Not only does Jason now have to worry about stepping up to the plate to ensure his grandfather's remains are laid to rest with the honor, respect & dignity he deserves, but Jason must also bare [sic] the burden of covering all expenses."

Those who donate will be "part of this moment in history of freeing Charles from the same system that did everything in their power to destroy him".

The creator of the page managed to raise $949 before the page was pulled from GoFundMe.

The original goal was $15,000.
