From February 2018, codeine painkillers will no longer be available over the counter.

This includes products such as Panadeine Extra, Neurofen Plus and Mersyndol, which will be banned from sale without prescription.

According to a report by Nine News, there is now concern that codeine users are stockpiling products ahead of the change.

There are also reports that some are even using an online marketplace to boost the numbers of people visiting pharmacies to purchase the painkillers.
