We've all experienced the frustration of peak-hour gridlock, but one German man's gone to new lengths to avoid traffic trouble.

Benjamin David told the BBC's David Loher he was fed up with the stress of commuting on busy city roads.

Naturally, his new approach was to pack his laptop, suit and shoes into a waterproof bag, strap it to his back and plunge into Munich's Isar River.

He makes the 2km swim in trunks or a long wetsuit – depending on the season – with the bag strapped to his back and rubber sandals to protect his feet from "glass or the occasional bicycle laying in the river".
