Aussie man Tom Keating has been charged by Thai Police after last weekend's fatal jet-ski accident that claimed the life of his 20-year-old girlfriend, Emily Collie.

The crash happened off the resort island of Phuket on Sunday.

22 year old Keating met with local police on Thursday, and claims he was blinded by the reflection of the sun when he collided with Ms Collier's jet ski at high speed. She sustained multiple injuries and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Members of both families have flown to Phuket and Emily's parents, say they don't blame Mr Keating for the death of their daughter.

"We are in the midst of grieving through the sudden loss of our precious daughter, Emily. This was a tragic accident. We do not believe anybody was at fault. In particular, we do not place any blame on Tom."

Emily Collier, from Kyabram in regional Victoria, had been a student at Charles Sturt University.

Mr Keating is expected to face a court hearing within two weeks, and faces a maximum of 10 years in jail.
