A “stunned” Fraser Anning has accused Pauline Hanson of kicking him out of the One Nation Party, hours after he reportedly claimed he’d ditched the party to stand as an independent.

Senator Anning was sworn in as a Queensland senator earlier today, but arriving to the ceremony with David Lleyonhjelm and Cory Bernardi instead of his One Nation colleagues signalled something was up, Guardian Australia reports.

It did not take long for Senator Hanson to announce Anning, who’d taken up the seat vacated by Malcolm Roberts, had seemingly “abandoned the Party” to stand as an independent “until something else comes along”.

In a lengthy statement shared on Facebook, Senator Hanson says Senator Anning “walked out of” a partyroom meeting this morning while discussing his political future.

Hitting back at the claims, Senator Anning says he was instead “kicked out” of the One Nation Party, and discovered the news while watching television.

“It seems without even contacting me, Pauline has unilaterally kicked me out of her part," he said.

"I have to say that I’m stunned."
