Masterchef Judge George Calombaris is being investigated by police after a scuffle at Sunday night's A League Grand Final.

Calombaris, who is Melbourne Victory's Number 1 ticket holder, was seen being heckled by a fan when things allegedly escalated.

He is accused of assaulting a 19 year-old man.

The SBS footage posted on The World Game website shows Calombaris walking onto the field post-match with fellow MasterChef personalities Matt Preston and Shannon Bennett before being heckled by Sydney fans.

The group can be heard yelling at him and booing, with some yelling "cuff him",  as well as "lock him up" and "pay your staff" in relation to his restaurant empire underpaying over 160 of his staff members.

Calombaris has since issued an apology, saying he wasn't proud of his reaction to the situation, but was "offended by a spectator yelling out abusive and derogatory comments about my family"

In the statement released on Monday, he said he has spoken to Melbourne Victory FC and Football Federation Australia to report the situation.

NSW Police say they have also spoken to two men in relation to the incident, and provided us with the following statement:

Police are investigating an alleged assault at Allianz Stadium.
About 8:50pm on Sunday 7 May, a 19 year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 38 year-old after a football game.
Police spoke to the men and will be investigating the incident further.
Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police should contact Crimestoppers.
