New controversial research is calling for Aussie stay at home mums to get back into the workforce ASAP, for the good of the country.

A landmark study from The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) claims women who quit their jobs to have children are the "greatest untapped potential" for the Australian workforce and a "potentially large loss to the economy".

It's mainly because women are better educated than the blokes, more than half of women aged 25 to 34 have a university degrees, compared with 43 per cent of men.

Parenthood experts say many mothers don't bother heading back to the workforce because the majority of their paychecks would go towards childcare costs.
