It's official - the Gold Coast has been confirmed as the new host for the TV Week Logie Awards for the next four years.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made the announcement on Friday morning, saying the state has locked in the glitter strip as host until 2021, the event to be held at the new Star Casino.

"The Logies are going to be held in Queensland, [here] on the Gold Coast, for the next four years and you know, I don't think the Premier of Victoria very happy at the moment but, it's coming here to the Gold Coast and it's going to be fantastic," she told Nine's Today Show.

"In fact, why don't we rename it the Goldies!"

The move ends Melbourne's 30 year rein of the event, the state's Tourism Minister deciding to give it the flick, arguing that it just doesn't bring in the dollars.
