The Australian government is warning Austraians to exercise a high level of caution if travelling to Indonesia following a spate of terrorist attacks.

On Monday, a family, including an eight-year-old girl, carried out a suicide bombing against police in the Indonesian city of Surabaya, a day after another militant family killed 13 people in suicide attacks on three churches in the same city.

Minister for home affairs told Peter Dutton us while the government was working with Indonesian police “it could happen anywhere, any time”. 

Around a million Australians head to Indonesia every year for holidays.

“Exercise a high degree of caution in Indonesia, including in Bali, Surabaya and Jakarta, because of the high threat of terrorist attack. Pay close attention to your personal security at all times. Monitor media for the latest information about safety or security risks.

The level of their advice has not changed.
