Disney is in crisis mode with claims hackers have stolen an unreleased film and are threatening to leak it unless the company pays up.

There's unconfirmed reports it's the new Johnny Depp film 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' which was filmed in Queensland, it's not due for release in Australia until next Thursday May 25.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed an incident has occurred, saying the hackers want a large bitcoin payment to keep the film under wraps, but has vowed they won't be giving in.

The same thing happened to Netflix recently, with a high-profile leak of Orange Is The New Black.

The streaming giant also refused to give in to demands and 10 episodes of the still-unreleased season 5 were released to the public on torrent website Pirate Bay.

It's unsure if the same hackers are behind the Disney incident.
