It has been revealed that half of all Australians don't brush their teeth twice a day, according to a national dental report card.

The Australian Health Policy Collaboration data also found that 90 per cent of adults also have some form of tooth decay.

And decay seems to be an issue which Australians of all ages are struggling with, as almost three-quarters of children have been found to be eating too much sugar, and one-third of five-year-olds have decay in their baby teeth.

Children aged five to nine have also been identified as having one of the highest admission rates at hospital for preventable dental issues.

The Oral Health Tracker implemented by the study has similarly shown that teens are also struggling when it comes to taking care of their teeth, with one-quarter of the group not visiting the dentist within the last 12 months.

A whopping 15.5 per cent of adults were also found to have severe tooth loss, with less than 21 of the full set of 32 teeth.
